David and Kate's Wedding, January 3, 2009

On January 3, 2009, my big brother actually got married! The wedding was held at the SooVac Art Gallery. Before the wedding, we went to eat at The Bulldog right down the street from the SooVac. it was a beautifully snowy January evening, and of course I decided to wear my open-toed shoes, because it seemed nice out when we left. Everyone else was smart and wore winter boots to the place then changed into their shoes. So we headed back to the Soo after eating and people were already starting to show up. The gallery was so beautifully decorated with 1000 gold and silver paper cranes that Kate's mom hand folded. I seriously could not believe how wonderful everything looked. Cory and I were the host couple so we got to greet people. The first hour or so was for mingling and hor d'oeurves. My mom made a ton of cookies and veggie bars and grandma made meatballs. They also had cheese and crackers and fruit. All the food was delicious! After everyone had arrived and enjoyed food and mingling, they started the short ceremony. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect ceremony for my brother and his wonderful wife! The wedding party walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of The Beatles' "God only knows." It was so beautiful. All the bridesmaids wore black dresses and looked great. Kate was stunning in a short gold dress with a beautiful veil that her mom made. The ceremony was very sweet. David and Kate had prepared a reading of their own that their friend Liz read about marriage for all. They are both very strong advocates for the GLBT and the right for everyone to be recognized in marriage. (They always said that they would not get married until all their friends could also be married) So although that isn't the case yet, they decided they would go ahead and get married, but they continue fighting for the rights of all their freinds as well. So after that reading, David and Kate said their vows that they had written for each other. They were so sweet. I can't even believe that I actually cried! I never in a million years thought that I would cry at my brother's wedding. The recessional was to an instrumental version of Journey's "Don't stop believing." I will say that I didn't know what to expect for this wedding, because my brother is so much different than me, but it really could not have been any more perfect. So, anyways, here's the pictures. Enjoy!

My little brother was a groomsman in the wedding.

So happy together!

I don't know...

And here's Chris trying to dance with the bridesmaids. We kind of made him. He was a good sport though.

New Year's Eve 2008

We hosted our 2nd annual New Year's Eve party and it was a blast! A lot of people came, and everyone had an awesome time. We first had a bunch of people over for dinner. I didn't actually get any pictures of that because I was so worried about entertaining, I hadn't even started drinking yet, let alone take any pictures. For dinner, we did fondue, and had pasta salad, tuna salad, chips and salsa and beer dip, and I made a strawberry-banana trifle for dessert. Once the dinner got over, the drinking commenced and everyone had a really good time!

We turned our laundry room into the bar area, and that ended up being the place to be.

Nick and Alex made an "Everything Shot." All I have to say about that is...disgusting! Just take a look at the picture below that shows everything that went into that shot. Yuck!

I was all dressed up from entertaining, but Cory already changed into his comfy clothes.

Josh decided he wanted a shot of Jamison, so Nick gave him a bucket to puke in afterwards.

Priceless!

OKay, so Cory's mom asked my mom if I was pregnant. I got a little sensitive about it, but then I decided to embrace my preggy-ness, and when I did this, I kind of started to wonder myself...

Thank you to Dan for bringing us Guitar Hero. It wouldn't have been the New Year's party without it.

Happy New Year!!

Happy New Year's to Daisy too!

Now that is just inappropriate.

Poor Daisy was so tired by the end of the night.

Well the New Year went off great and we are now ready for July 4th and Apple River.
