2009 Breast Cancer 3 Day

For those of you who didn't know yet (which by now is nobody), I have officially joined in the fight against Breast Cancer. I will be walking 60 miles to benefit the Susan G. Komen foundation with my team, The DuBar Dolls. Many of you may know the team already from my work girls, Heidi and Amy. I have just always thought it would be an amazing experience to be able to be a part of something like that. So this year, I took a deep breath, and dove in!

You can check out the team and upcoming events at our website

Here's my lovely team (minus one).
We had a kickoff meeting in February where I finally got to meet all the girls. Everyone is so sweet and supportive. I was worried about raising the money and really what I had gotten myself into. After meeting the team, those worries just went away. I am just plain excited now to be a part of this amazing team of women (and men). I think it's going to be great!
We just had our Volley to Beat Breast Cancer on March 21st. It was a pretty long day, but fun for all the teams involved. The winning team got a gift certificate and the (very creative) boob trophy. There was also a prize for the team with the best costumes. The team dressed like the Flintstones won that. It was well deserved.
After the tournament was done, we all headed over to Brewster's for some delicious food, drinks, and company. I had a Reuben and it was delicious! We also had a mini meeting for our upcoming events.
Our next event coming up is the Boogie to Beat Breast Cancer. It is on April 25th at Grandpa's Garage in Cannon Falls. Anybody that is interested in going should let me know. Also, we still need donations for the silent auction. We are looking for big items and also themed baskets. You could donate small items for a basket or a whole basket if you have a great idea.
Other events coming up:
Garage Sale- May 16th
Pampered Chef Party- May 17th
5K Rack Race and Melon Meander- June 13th

We are also looking into selling programs at a Twins Game on May 27th and possibly having a Flapjack Fundraiser at Applebees (unsure of the date on that). If anyone wants to help sell programs to benefit Breast Cancer (and go to a free Twins game) let me know. I am also trying to see how many people would be interested in paying $5 to eat a delicious pancake breakfast. It's super cheap and it goes for a great cause.
That's pretty much it for the 3 Day news. Everyone make sure you get online and donate or send your donations in. The deadline is fast approaching and will be here before we know it. Please only donate what you can afford. I know times are tough, but if everyone contributes even a little bit, I know I can meet my goal of $2300 by July.

St. Patty's Day

We went out for St. Patrick's Day on Saturday, March 14th. It was really busy downtown at the bars and people were being slightly annoying. They didn't have Dollar Jag Bombs either, so none of the guys were really having much fun. So we ended up not staying out that late. That was fine with me because I was tired.

My pseudo-sister, Elle.

Lizzi and Rose

So besides that, not a whole lot has been going on since my last post. That's pretty much why I haven't posted in, oh, forever.
In February, we also went out to celebrate Mardi Gras at Wild Onion, which was pretty fun, with lots of wine. I helped our friends, Dan and Melissa move in together. That was a pain in the ass, but I am so excited for them and their apartment is super cute. I give them a year before they're engaged (no pressure, Dan. I'm just saying). My dad also celebrated his 50th birthday on February 28th! I can't even believe it. It snuck up on me, and I didn't even think to plan a big party. We'll have to just plan one for my mom instead in August when she turns 50.
So then, into March, not really much has happened. Just working and sleeping. Exciting things lie ahead, so stay tuned...
