Down with the sickness

Yea, so I feel like pretty much everybody in my family has had something going on lately. The cold crap is going around at work. I thought I was going to be the lucky one that didn't get it. Not so much.
On Monday evening, it began with an intense headache that prompted me to call into work. Then as the night went on, each consecutive time that I woke up to pee, I felt progressively worse, leading up to a nasty strep throat-feeling-cold thing in the morning. Cory was up puking all night for some unknown reason so he also called into work that morning, but when he felt better, he ended up taking care of me all day. Thank goodness for him. I felt like crap all day, barely ate, and just laid on the couch covered with blankets all day. Cory got me chicken noodle soup from Byerly's to help me feel better. It only slightly helped. Tuesday night I slept okay, but I still felt like crap on Wednesday. Wednesday night I pretty much didn't sleep. I was up hacking up a lung all night long, keeping Cory up. And to boot, I had to get up at 5:30 to go be with my mom while my dad had a biopsy done. So I went to the hospital at like 6:30 and Cory, being the wonderful husband he is, went with me. We ended up leaving there at like 11:00 and I went home, ate some food, and tried sleeping on the couch. I did sleep for a while, but then when I woke up I felt worse! One more night of calling in. Geez! Four nights in a row. That's a lot of sick time. So, I made sure I took more medicine on Thurday night so I could really sleep, and it mostly worked. I made sure I really took it easy all day Friday too and I pretty much felt fine to come to work Friday night. I was still pretty hoarse and kind of hacking up nasty mucus, but I tried not to do it in my patients' rooms. I think they appreciate that. Friday night went fine so I'm back in business, but not 100% yet.
Now as far as my dad is concerned, he had a PET scan done and the oncologist said it looked worse than before so he wanted him to see the ENT again. So we did that and even though he couldn't see anything in his throat, he thought it would be best to do another biopsy. So on Thursday he had that done and had to stay the night in the hospital. At least this time it was only one night. The biopsy showed no cancer, which is good but not 100% sure. The ENT is going to continue to follow him and he'll do a needle biopsy in a week, to make sure. But, as it goes with Cancer, you can never be completely certain that it's 100% gone.
My mom has still been having some mystery illness thing going on. The Bell's Palsy is back on the other side now, her BP is up, dizziness. She's feeling less tired than before but definitely still not back to normal. So we are still waiting to figure out what's going on there. If her doctor can't figure something out when she goes to see her tomorrow, I think we might need to try and find a new doctor.
I guess since I'm updating on all the rest of my family, I should talk about my brothers too. They're both perfectly healthy. Chris is having typical teenage angst. David and Kate are happily married and enjoying domesticated living. Really not much to report.
Sorry for the long post with no picures. :)

Valentine's Day

On Valentine's Day thie year, Cory and I were both off work so we planned a fun evening with Dan and Mel. We ate dinner at P.F. Chang's, enjoyed some wine and delicious food, then headed downtown. We had so much fun, I think we'll have to make it a tradition.

Daisy wasn't super excited that she got left home alone on V-Day, but she dealt with it.

She snuck into this picture too. What a camera hog. But she's so cute!

My hair was kind of doing this woohoo thing, and I kept trying to fix it, but it didn't want to cooperate, so I just left it.

Cory attempting to eat with chop sticks. That didn't last long.

I think he's mean-mugging me...
So serious.

Ok, let me preface this picture with the fact that we were talking about big boobs. I was not trying to be inappropriate.

Where else but Brothers?

Party Bus!

On Saturday we went on a party bus with our friends Dan and Mel. It was Mel's friend's 21st birthday. The bus picked us up at TGIF's and we proceeded to go to Uptown. We went to The Drink and The Independent in uptown. Then we headed to Downtown. We went to a bunch of places there, mainly Brothers and Envy, but everyone kind of did their own thing there. It was a crazy night, to say the least. It was also a long night. We didn't get back to Dan's house until 3:30 I think. We had a lot of fun. Maybe too much fun. I don't know. I don't think I'll be going on another party bus for a while. That's all I'm saying. So enjoy the pics!

Birthday girl!

In the elevator at the Independent.

I have no idea...
Uh, yea...

I was actually pretty shocked to see the birthday girl still standing at the end of the night. I guess she had some people taking care of her and making sure she drank water all night. Good for her!

That's the birthday girl's aunt. Her mom came too. They were some crazy fun ladies!
